- A shared shuttle to Tamarindo is about $30 per person with a minimum of 3 seats. Pinilla drop-off is by arrangement.
- San José airport (SJO) to Pinilla is about 286 km and 4 hours 40 minutes. Fly into Liberia if you can.

She has used the same transfer providers for years and passes your flight details straight to them. You get a name at arrivals, a cold drink in the van if you ask, and the gate code sorted before you reach it. If the flight is late, the driver waits.

- Daytrip includes child seats at no charge. Others did not state a child-seat policy.
- Most private transfers track your flight and wait at arrivals with a name sign. Confirm this when booking.
- Taxis at Liberia airport are metered or fixed-rate at the rank. We did not find a published Pinilla fare.

How long is the drive from Liberia airport to Hacienda Pinilla?
Providers quote 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes for the 75 to 79 km drive. Allow the longer figure in the late afternoon or in the green season when the Tamarindo road is busier.
Is a private transfer or a shared shuttle better for Pinilla?
For 3 or more people a private vehicle costs about the same as shared seats and drops you at the house. Shared shuttles run to Tamarindo on a schedule, and Pinilla homes are inside a gated community some way off the main road.
What should I send Mary to arrange a transfer?
Your flight number and arrival time, number of passengers, number of large bags, any surfboards or golf clubs, child seats needed, and the home you are staying in. Mary passes the request to a provider, who confirms the price and pickup details.
Can Mary arrange a transfer if I am not staying in one of her homes?
Yes. Tours and transport requests are open to guests at other Hacienda Pinilla homes and nearby rentals. Providers confirm availability and final terms.
Should I fly into Liberia or San José?
Liberia (LIR) is about 1 hour 30 minutes from Pinilla. San José (SJO) is about 4 hours 40 minutes by road, and the published private rate is roughly three times higher per person. Choose Liberia unless flight prices make San José much cheaper.
